Course: Tel (Start) ➔ Lagundo Waalweg ➔ Café Konrad ➔ Ochsentod ➔ Castel Thurnstein ➔ St. Peter ➔ Castel Tirolo ➔ Brunnenburg ➔ Suspension bridge ➔ Lagundo Waalweg ➔ Tel (Destination)

This circular hike combines the gentle babbling of the waale (ancient irrigation channels) with the sight of historic castles. Starting from Tel, you will hike past vineyards, stopovers, and castles to Castel Tirolo – panoramic views included. You start in Tel (parking lot near the bridge to Merano) and follow the flat, idyllic Lagundo Waalweg trail towards Lagundo. Walking past orchards, you will reach Café Konrad. After a short break, the only sporty challenge of the tour awaits you here: the well-signposted, steep, but short ascent via the historic Ochsentod. Once at the top, you hike up a moderate incline past Castel Thurnstein, the historic church of St. Peter, and the impressive Castel Tirolo until just before the entrance of Tirolo. For the return path, you descend to the Brunnenburg and follow the road towards Castel Thurnstein. A spectacular suspension bridge finally leads you back to the Waalweg, on which you leisurely hike back to the starting point.
