Course: Castelbello (Start) ➔ Latschander Waalweg ➔ Galsaun ➔ Schnalswaalweg ➔ Ciardes ➔ Castel Juval (Destination)

This Waalweg hike leads you along the sun-drenched slopes of the Val Venosta directly to one of the region's most spectacular cultural treasures: Castel Juval. You start in the town center of Castelbello and hike past the historic Köflgut up to the Latschander Waalweg trail (Path No. 3). Follow this path heading east. From Galsaun, you will switch onto the Schnalswaalweg trail (also Path No. 3). Enjoy the relaxed hike along the babbling channels and pass through Ciardes until you reach the Sonnenhof at the foot of Castel Juval (930m). Majestic Castel Juval (the residence of mountaineering legend Reinhold Messner) towers over the entrance to the Val Venosta gorge. After a visit or a break, the shuttle bus takes you comfortably down to the Schnalserhof. From there, you can easily return to Castelbello by public bus or the Val Venosta railway.
