Info

Equipment: Sturdy footwear, sun protection, and sufficient drinking water. Tips: Since this hike runs along the very sunny slope with very little shade, it can get extremely hot in summer. We recommend enjoying this tour during the mild spring or golden autumn. Where to eat: Wiedenplatz hut (splendid terrace with panoramic views and South Tyrolean specialties), Wiedenplatzer Keller (cozy, rustic cellar inn), Cafés & restaurants in the center of Naturno

Course: Naturno (Start) ➔ St. Prokulus ➔ Gasthof Wiedenplatz ➔ Wallburgweg ➔ Wallburgboden ➔ Compaccio ➔ Langwies ➔ Schwalbennest ➔ Naturno (Destination)

This circular hike takes you from Naturno up to the Wiedenplatz hut and continues along the historic Wallburgweg trail. Maintaining a nearly constant altitude, you will enjoy spectacular views. From the town center of Naturno, you walk east past the famous St. Prokulus Church and ascend along trail No. 39 up to the cozy Wiedenplatz hut (630 m). Approximately 10 minutes above the "Wiedenplatzer Keller", the Wallburgweg trail branches off, marking the entrance to the actual panoramic path. You will now hike at a nearly constant altitude heading west along the sunny slopes to the Wallburgboden (620 m). The subsequent descent leads you down towards Compaccio. At the junction above the bypass tunnel, keep right and return leisurely to Naturno via Langwies and the Schwalbennest (665 m).
