Into the spectacular heart of the "Pale Mountains" – Past Rosengarten, Latemar, and Sella. Starting in Merano (Meran), drive via Bolzano (Bozen) straight into the wild and romantic Ega Valley (Eggental). Carving your way up alongside steep canyon walls, you will reach the picturesque Lake Carezza (Karersee), famous for its vibrant colors reflecting the jagged Latemar peaks. Cross the Costalunga Pass (Karerpass) under the shadow of the Rosengarten massif down into Val di Fassa to Canazei. From Canazei, tackle the rewarding switchbacks of the Pordoi Pass (Pordojjoch) and continue over the iconic Sella Pass (Sellajoch). Up here, you get breathtaking, up-close views of the massive Sella Group and the Langkofel peak. Descend into Ortisei (St. Ulrich), the main town of Val Gardena (Gröden) and home of legendary alpine pioneer Luis Trenker (renowned for its exquisite woodcarving traditions). Return comfortably via the Eisack Valley and Bolzano back to Merano.
