106 Gampen Pass, Mendel Pass & Lake Caldaro

Alpine pass classics & panoramic vistas – From Val di Non over Mount Penegal down to Lake Caldaro. Start in Merano enjoying views along the Marlengo Panorama Road down to Lana. From Lana, the smooth pass road climbs steadily up over the Palade (1,518 m) into the Trentino region's Val di Non to Fondo. From Fondo, take the road up to the Passo Mendola (1,363 m) and branch off onto the narrow scenic road leading up to Mount Penegal (1,737 m). A breathtaking view opens up across Bolzano, the Adige Valley, and the entire Dolomite mountain range. After taking in the views at Mount Penegal, return to the Mendel Pass and navigate the legendary, cliff-side switchbacks down to Caldaro. Continue directly to Lake Caldaro (215 m) to relax by the water's edge. Finish the drive with a smooth cruise through the Adige Valley back to Merano.
