Climbing past gentle vineyard slopes, the scenic road brings you up to the high plateau of Ritten. Arrive in Collalbo (1,154 m), perfect for a stop to admire the fascinating Ritten Earth Pyramids – Europe's tallest and most striking earth pillars topped with glacial boulders. Continue via the panoramic mountain village of Auna di Sopra into the romantic and pristine Sarntal Valley. Cruising alongside rushing streams, reach the main village of Sarentino (961 m), featuring a historic center that invites you to stroll. The winding road then descends under towering rock faces, passing historic Castel Roncolo at the valley entrance, returning via Bolzano back to Merano.
