Info
Traditional wooden farmsteads, living heritage, and historic churches in the Falschauer Valley. Leaving Merano (Meran) behind, drive from Lana straight into the Ultental Valley. The first village along the route is St. Pankraz (San Pancrazio, 736 m), dominated by its impressive 56-meter-high church tower. Cruising along the sweeping valley road, pass St. Walburg (1,190 m) to reach scenic St. Nikolaus (1,256 m). A stop at the local Ultental Valley Museum is highly recommended: explore ancient farming tools, traditional folk art, regional wildlife displays (such as golden eagles and capercaillies), and local heritage objects. After visiting the museum, ascend further up the valley to St. Gertraud (1,519 m), the highest village in the Ultental Valley. From its iconic small church, enjoy a panoramic view across the valley floor that has captivated visitors for over 700 years. Filled with wonderful impressions, enjoy a smooth ride back down through the valley via Lana to Merano.
