112 Stelvio Pass & Livigno

The ultimate alpine pass drive – 48 legendary hairpins, glacier panoramas, and duty-free Livigno. Start in Naturno (Naturns) driving through Val Venosta (Vinschgau) toward the Reschen Pass. At Spondinig, turn off toward Prad. Past the village of Trafoi, the real excitement begins: 48 numbered hairpin turns climb daringly up the steep mountainside to the summit of the Stelvio Pass (Passo dello Stelvio, 2,757 m). Stop at the top to take in breathtaking views of Mount Ortler's glaciers. From Stelvio summit, descend through the wild and romantic Braulio Valley with its rustic rock tunnels. Before reaching Bormio, branch right and cross the Foscagno Pass (2,291 m) and Eira Pass (2,209 m) down into the duty-free mountain town of Livigno (1,816 m). After enjoying a stop by the lake, drive through the toll-operated Munt-la-Schera Tunnel into Switzerland. Over the scenic Ofen Pass (Pass dal Fuorn, 2,149 m), return through Val Müstair to South Tyrol, passing medieval Glurns and returning down Val Venosta.
