12 Martello Pedertal Valley & Lyfi Alm

This high-alpine circular hike takes you deep into the untouched Pedertal Valley in the inner Martello Valley. Along secluded, partly steep mountain trails, you will ascend into the high-alpine zone where, with a bit of luck, marmots whistle and chamois graze on the steep slopes. Your hike begins at the toll parking lot near the Enzian hut (2,050 m) at the very end of the Martello Valley. Walk back along the road for about 100 meters, then turn left onto the forest road leading towards the Lyfi Alm. Shortly after crossing the bridge over the Pederbach stream, switch to trail No. 20. From here, the path climbs steeply until you reach the high-altitude Pederstier Alm (2,550 m). At the pasture, keep left and hike on a gentle incline into the wild Pedertal Valley up to the height of the now-ruined Schildhütte cabin (2,470 m). From this point, the trail curves in a northeastern arc to join trail No. 33. In a longer, incredibly scenic section, you will cross a small saddle at the Pederköpfl ridge (2,500 m). From there, descend mostly gently to the beautifully situated refuge of the Lyfi Alm (2,165 m). The return path to the parking lot is a relaxed walk along the wide forest road.
