28 Into the Schlandrauntal Valley to Lake Corces

Course: Talatsch (Start) ➔ Schlandraun Waalweg ➔ Almenweg ➔ Kortscher Alm ➔ Trail No. 4 ➔ Lake Corces (Destination & highest point) ➔ Return via the same route ➔ Talatsch

A demanding high-alpine hike through an untouched valley to a sparkling mountain lake at 2,510 meters. From Corces, drive up the paved mountain road past the historic St. Aegidius Church to the junction at the small settlement of Talatsch (1,454 m), where you park. Join the narrow Waalweg trail heading north into the Schlandrauntal Valley (Note: The trail is partly steep, exposed, and unsecured – surefootedness is required!). The path eventually joins the main alpine pasture road, leading gently through the scenic valley floor to the traditional Kortscher Alm (1,990 m). From the Kortscher Alm, take trail No. 4 heading northeast. The path climbs steadily along the roaring mountain stream, taking you up into increasingly rugged, high-alpine terrain until you reach the impressive Kortscher See (2,510 m), a pristine tarn surrounded by rocky wilderness. After a well-deserved rest, descend along the same route back to the starting point.
