Course: Berggasthof Stallwies (Start, 1,930 m) ➔ Martello High Trail (Path No. 8) ➔ Schludermahd / Stallwieser Mahd (Destination) ➔ Return via same route ➔ Stallwies
A scenic panoramic hike along the slopes of the Martello Valley high above the strawberry fields. Drive into the Martello Valley to the hamlet of Gand, turn right, and follow the narrow, steep mountain road passing Martell village and Waldberg up to the beautifully situated mountain inn Stallwies (1,930 m, parking available). Directly from the inn, join the Martello High Trail (Path No. 8). The path leads you in a moderate to gently steep incline along the sunny slope heading further into the valley. You will hike through dense larch forests and pass scenic spots overlooking the strawberry plantations below and the mighty glaciers at the end of the valley. The destination of this leg is the idyllic Schludermahd (also known as Stallwieser Mahd, approx. 2,150 m), a peaceful alpine meadow. After enjoying the tranquil surroundings, return along the same route back to Stallwies.
