An impressive journey at the head of the valley discovering historic structures and roaring gorges. Drive to the very end of the Martello Valley road to the parking lot near Gasthof Enzian (2,050 m, fee applies). Start on foot across the Plima river bridge and pass the iconic, pink-walled Hotel Paradiso ruins. Following Path No. 37, ascend steadily through alpine flora up to the high plateau known as "Ultner Markt" (2,280 m). From "Ultner Markt", follow the path further up to the historic old dam (2,300 m, an imposing flood control structure built in the 1950s). Cross over the dam structure and the roaring Plima stream. Next, hike along the western side of the valley, descending gently in a northwesterly direction toward the welcoming Zufallhütte Refuge (Rifugio Nino Corsi, 2,264 m). After a rewarding break, take trail No. 31 comfortably back down to the starting point at the Enzian parking lot.
