Equipment: Hiking boots, weatherproof jacket, sun protection, and drinking water. Tips: The "Larchböden" area is named after its ancient larch trees. In late September and October, these slopes turn into a glowing sea of golden-orange above the turquoise water! Where to eat: Gasthof zum See (cozy inn located directly on the lake shore with a scenic terrace serving South Tyrolean cuisine), Albergo Enzian (at the trailhead)

Course: Enzian Parking (Start, 2,050 m) ➔ Plima Bridge ➔ Hotel Paradiso Ruins ➔ Path No. 12 ➔ Larchböden (2,100 m) ➔ Path No. 12A ➔ Gasthof zum See (1,860 m) ➔ Trail No. 36 / Valley path ➔ Enzian Parking (Destination)

A scenic hillside hike high above the reservoir from the Larchböden slopes to the valley head. Drive to the end of the Martello Valley road to the parking lot near Gasthof Enzian (2,050 m, parking fee applies). Walk on foot about 400 meters up the valley, crossing the Plima bridge and passing the historic Hotel Paradiso ruins. Behind the ruins, join trail No. 12, which climbs gently in a loop heading northeast through the fragrant larch woods of Larchböden (2,100 m). From the high point at Larchböden, switch to trail No. 12A. This scenic path descends gently along the slopes above Lake Gioveretto down to the Gasthof zum See inn (1,860 m). After a relaxing stop by the lakeshore, begin your return journey: follow hiking path No. 36 climbing gently back up through the valley floor, or walk along the quiet side road back to the Enzian parking lot.
