A scenic hillside hike along the Ilswaal irrigation channel to an imposing knight's castle. Start in the center of Corces (Kortsch, 775 m) and walk northward, ascending gently to the historic St. Aegidius Church (883 m), which stands prominently above the apple orchards. Above the church, join Trail No. 5 along the scenic Ilswaal. Follow this pleasant irrigation channel trail heading east, ascending gently through the arid vegetation of the Sonnenberg mountain until you reach the entrance of the Schlandraun Valley. After crossing the roaring Schlandraun stream, ascend a fairly steep path up to the impressive Schlandersberg Castle (1,060 m, privately owned, interior closed to the public). Enjoy the splendid views across the Val Venosta valley basin. Next, switch to Trail No. 7, which leads you on a fairly steep but scenic descent directly via Vetzan down to Silandro (Schlanders, 740 m). From Silandro, you can easily take the local bus or the Venosta Valley train back to your starting point in Corces.
