Info

Equipment: Hiking boots, trekking poles, weatherproof gear, sun protection, and plenty of water/snacks. Tips: The Flimseen lakes owe their distinct look to the surrounding light mica schist. On sunny days, the rocks around the lakes sparkle in silvery hues! Where to eat: Soyalm Hut (on the descent), Café Hölderle at the end of the descent

Course: Gand (Start, 1,260 m) ➔ Trail No. 22 / Trail No. 2 ➔ Flim Forest (Steep climb) ➔ Lower & Upper Flim Alm ➔ Lower Flimsee Lake (2,370 m) ➔ Upper Flimsee Lake (2,568 m) ➔ Marteller Scharte Pass (Highest point, 2,822 m) ➔ Descent to Soyalm (2,000 m) ➔ Trail No. 4 ➔ Café Hölderle (1,450 m) / Gand (Destination)

A demanding high-alpine tour to crystal-clear tarns and shimmering mica rocks. Drive to Gand in the Martello Valley (approx. 1,260 m). From Gand, follow trail No. 22 until it meets trail No. 2 coming up from the Ennwasser stream. Here begins a very steep climb through the Flim forest (Flimwald). Traversing steep, rocky woodland, you quickly gain elevation, reaching the Lower Flim Alm and soon after the Upper Flim Alm. After about 2.5 hours of walking, you reach the shore of the Lower Flimsee (Lago di Flim, 2,370 m). From the lower lake, the 1-hour continuation up to the Upper Flimsee Lake (2,568 m) is highly rewarding. The effort is compensated by a breathtaking natural spectacle: the upper lake cascades as a misty waterfall directly into the lower lake, surrounded by light-colored rock studded with sparkling mica flakes. Continue climbing up to the Marteller Scharte pass (2,822 m), the highest point of the tour. From the pass, begin the long descent to the peacefully situated Soyalm pasture (2,000 m). From the hut, follow trail No. 4 in a steep forest descent down into the valley, ending at Café Hölderle (1,450 m). If a ride back to Gand is not available, walk the remaining 20 minutes along the valley road back to your starting point.
