49 Hasenöhrl – High above the Tarscher Alm

Course: Tarsch Chairlift Base (Start, 1,185 m) ➔ Trail No. 1 ➔ Zirmhütte ➔ Sieben Brünnlein / Pfeiler ➔ Trail No. 2 ➔ Blaue Schneide Ridge (2,915 m) ➔ Boulder Fields & Pre-Summit ➔ Summit Ridge ➔ Hasenöhrl Peak (Destination & highest point, 3,257 m) ➔ Descent via Latscher Joch ➔ Tarscher Alm (1,940 m) ➔ Tarsch Base (Destination)

A classic high-alpine tour to a breathtaking 3,000-meter peak in the Ortler Group. Drive early in the morning to the chairlift valley station in Tarsch (Tarres, 1,185 m). Begin hiking on Trail No. 1, ascending through mountain forest up to the Zirmhütte hut. Turn right toward "Sieben Brünnlein" and follow signs for the Tarscher Wetterkreuz and Tarscher Jochwaal to the prominent rock formations known as "Die Pfeiler". Join Trail No. 2, which climbs steeply up to the striking ridge of Blaue Schneide (2,915 m). From the Blaue Schneide ridge, traverse flat boulder fields before climbing steeply to a pre-summit marked by a large cairn. Finally, cross the jagged crest and gentle final ridge directly to the summit cross of Hasenöhrl (3,257 m). Enjoy a well-deserved rest with panoramic glacier views before starting your descent. Return along the same route. Varied Descent Option: From the Latscher Joch pass, descend on Trail No. 2 toward the ski huts and follow forest trail No. 2 back to the Tarscher Alm pasture (1,940 m). Enjoy a hearty alpine meal here before heading back down into the valley.
